Team Sprint

A “Team Sprint” is held over three laps, with teams of three riders each leading for one lap. The winner of a Race is the Team recording the fastest time. The riders of each team start side by side behind the Starting Line. At the completion of their lap, the leading edge of the leading rider’s front wheel must cross the Pursuit Line ahead of the leading edge of the front wheel of the following rider. 

Flying 200

A “Flying Start Time Trial” shall be held as a series of individual rides over a distance of approximately 200m, with each rider initially given a distance of approximately 800m before starting their effort. The winner of a Race shall be the rider recording the fastest time. 

Match Sprint

The ‘Cat & Mouse’ Event. Riders normally ride a qualifying Flying 200 to set the seeding for the race. A “Sprint” shall be held over 750m, with two or more riders taking the start. The starting position of each rider shall be decided by the drawing of lots. The winner of a Race shall be the rider who crosses the Finishing Line first. Once the sprint has started you cannot go below the Sprinter’s Line (normally red) once the leading rider is on the line or below it. 

1K TT

A “Time Trial” shall be held as a series of individual rides over a distance of approximately 500m to 1000m. The winner of a Race shall be the rider recording the fastest time. An appointed holder or mechanical starting gate shall support the rider at the start. 

Keirin

The Keirin is the race with the derny (motorbike) normally 3 laps behind the derny and another 3 after it leaves the track. The winner of a Race shall be the rider who crosses the Finishing Line first. The derny gradually raises the speed up to between 30-50km/h. The riders have to stay in their start positions for the first lap and are not allowed to be in front of the derny, failure to do so would result in them being disqualified.
